Understanding the Services That Support Communities Across the Cochrane District
The Cochrane District Services Board (CDSB) delivers and oversees a wide range of services that support residents throughout every stage of life. From child care and housing to paramedic services, employment supports, and social assistance, these programs contribute to the health, well-being, and economic stability of communities across the District.
Yet many residents, and even newly elected municipal leaders, may not be familiar with the full scope of services delivered through CDSB or the challenges associated with providing those services across one of Ontario’s largest geographic regions.
To help address this, CDSB has developed Local Office. District Impact., a public information series designed to increase awareness and understanding of the organization’s responsibilities, programs, and community impact. In the coming weeks, we will be sharing high-level overviews of five key service areas:
- Administration, Governance & Funding – Tuesday September 29th, 2026
- Children’s Services – Thursday, October 1st, 2026
- Paramedic Services – Tuesday, October 6th, 2026
- Housing Services – Thursday, October 8th, 2026
- Community Development and Services (Ontario Works, Employment Ontario, Homelessness) – Tuesday, October 13th, 2026
Each document highlights the role of the service, who it supports, how it is funded, and some of the opportunities and challenges facing communities throughout the Cochrane District.
Whether you are a municipal candidate, an elected official, a community partner, or a resident interested in learning more, we hope this series provides valuable insight into the important work being carried out across the Cochrane District.
