The Child Care Fee Subsidy Program helps families across the Cochrane District with the cost of licensed child care. This program supports eligible families by paying a portion of their total licensed child care costs.

How to Apply
Before applying for the Child Care Fee Subsidy Program, you must have a confirmed spot a licensed child care centre or licensed home childcare centre in the Cochrane District.

If you require child care for special needs only, please contact your referring agency or primary care provider.

If you are currently an Ontario Works client and are working or in school, please contact your Case Manager or Employment Resource Worker to discuss your child care needs.

In-Person
If you’re unable to complete the online form, please call the Cochrane District Services Board at 705-268-7722 and follow the prompts to speak to Children’s Services. Our team will book an appointment for you with a Child Care Coordinators to review your eligibility and begin the fee subsidy application process.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Child Care Fee Subsidy Program, applicants must:

• Be a resident of the Cochrane District
• Be the child’s parent, legal guardian, temporary caregiver or kinship parent
• Be living in the same household as the child
• Have filed a Federal Tax Return every year
• Demonstrate a need for child care, including:
  • Working full-time, part-time, casual or on-call
  • Attending school or participating in training programs
  • Have a Special Needs Referral provided by the Cochrane District Resource Consultant Services, a third-party agency, a doctor or other health care practitioner currently working with you or the child 

Your Child Care Coordinator may also request additional documentation, including:

• Rent or mortgage information
  
• Copies of birth certificates for parents and children
  
• Proof of registration in training or education programs
  
• Child care custody information
  
• Marital status vertification
  
• Recent pay stubs
  
• Immigration documents (if applicable)

All applicants must declare all adults living in the same household and common-law relationships.
