14 Years of Giving: Timmins Fill an Ambulance Toy Drive Supports Local Families

Timmins, ON – For the 14th year running, the Cochrane District Paramedic Services and staff from the Cochrane District Services Board (CDSB) hosted the Annual “Fill an Ambulance” Toy Drive on Friday, November 28th, 2025. For the day, ambulances were parked outside of Walmart and Canadian Tire, collecting new, unwrapped toys and cash donations. These donations will be provided to the North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation to assist children and youth in need who are receiving services from North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) through the Community Angel Campaign.

This year’s collection was incredibly successful, helping support families in need, filling two ambulances with gifts and raising $4,456.30. Last year, the “Fill an Ambulance” Toy Drive raised $4,548.35 and filled two ambulances with gifts for local children and youth.

“Every year, we see our community come together in such a powerful way,” said Marc Renaud Chief of Cochrane District Paramedic Services. “It’s about more than toys—it’s about showing families that they’re not alone and that we care. This generosity truly makes the holidays brighter for so many.”

“The spirit of giving in Timmins is incredible,” said Brian Marks, Chief Administrative Officer at the Cochrane District Services Board. “When people unite to support those in need, it reminds us what the holiday season is all about—compassion, kindness, and community. We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed.”

Since 2020, this event has raised over $26,000 and filled twelve ambulances with gifts for families in need.

Giving back to the community is at the core of what paramedics do every day. Beyond responding to emergencies, paramedic services are deeply committed to supporting the health and well-being of the communities they serve. Initiatives like the “Fill an Ambulance” Toy Drive reflect this commitment—bringing people together to help those in need and ensuring that every child experiences the joy of the holiday season.
