Cochrane, ON – The Cochrane District Services Board (CDSB) is proud to celebrate the grand opening of the Cadence Residence Expansion Project in Cochrane, ON. Officially welcoming new residents in July and August 2026, this milestone marks the successful completion of a project that is already making a meaningful impact in the community.
This expansion includes 28 new one- and two-bedroom suites for independent housing, adding to the 31 existing suites that first opened in 2015.
Demonstrating the critical need for seniors housing in the Cochrane District, all newly constructed units have been fully leased ahead of the phased move-in schedule. This strong demand reflects the continued need for accessible, affordable housing options for seniors across the District.
“This grand opening represents more than the completion of a building, it reflects our commitment to meeting the growing needs of our communities,” said Brian Marks, Chief Administrative Officer at the Cochrane District Services Board. “Seeing these units filled before residents even move in speaks to the importance of this investment and the role Cadence Residence plays in supporting seniors.”
“Housing is about creating spaces where people feel safe, supported, and connected,” said Lindsay Cumming, Director of Housing at the Cochrane District Services Board. “We’re incredibly proud to officially open this expansion and welcome its new residents. The team at Cadence Residence have created an exceptional community that prioritizes quality of life and independence.”
With an aging population and a growing number of seniors seeking independent housing with supports, the demand for accessible, affordable housing continues to grow. The current waiting list for Cadence Residence reflects this urgent need, underscoring the importance of continued investment in seniors housing infrastructure across the Cochrane District.
The expansion project builds on CSDB’s ongoing efforts to address housing needs across the Cochrane District and supports a growing senior population seeking independent living that allows them to age in place.
