Job Reports to: Facility Manager, Cadence Residence
Salary: $25.97 – $30.81
SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Facility Manager, Cadence Residence, the Recreation Therapist is responsible to develop, implement, facilitate, schedule and evaluate programs and activities that fulfil the social, intellectual needs and interests of the senior residents. The Recreation Therapist is also responsible for leading, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the outcomes of both newly developed and ongoing programs and activities, with a dedicated focus on promoting the health and well-being of all residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION
- Responsible for the effective daily delivery of programs, activities, and support services to enrich the lives of the residents as well as stimulate their cognitive, physical, emotional and social skills. To develop programs and activities to ensure that the individual’s needs and goals are being met.
- Keep the residents engaged and interacting with their surroundings. Include educational opportunities, volunteering opportunities, music, news, culture, arts, etc.
- Build collaborative relationships with the residents and partners in care both internally and externally.
- Encourage residents to explore their interests and participate in healthy interactions and programs to promote their health and wellbeing.
- Collaborate with the Cadence Manager in the development of quality indicators.
- Observe, monitor, analyze, evaluate and report on the outcomes of the newly developed programs. Use tools such as individual assessment to determine their individual strengths, needs and interests. Use feedback forms from individuals, monitor emotional & physical wellbeing and document all outcomes.
- Outline goals, track progress and participation. Reporting on performance and outcome of organized activities.
- Activities to focus on social inclusion, mental stimulation, emotional support. Responsible to ensure that residents’ needs are being met and services are delivered to the highest standards.
- Work collaboratively with onsite staff to achieve goals.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent writing, communication and customer service skills.
- Demonstrate ability in word processing, outlook, excel, power point and report writing.
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate with team members and volunteers.
- Working knowledge of the full range of programs delivered by CDSB Housing Services.
- Good interpersonal skills are required to communicate with residents, staff, and colleagues, internal and external clients
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- College or university graduate in Social Work, BA in psychology, gerontology or Recreation Therapy
- Relevant experience working with seniors and vulnerable populations
