Yes, because the CDSB manages a centralized wait list for housing, our housing application lists all housing units available. When applying, please select all housing units you would like to be considered for.
Anyone applying for community housing is required to provide property ownership and legal documents for current ownership or the transfer or sale of property (if within the last three (3) years.
If you’re applying for Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) housing, you must divest your interest in the property within 180 days (6 months) after you start receiving RGI housing.
You will receive written confirmation from the CDSB that your application for housing has been processed.
Yes, you can apply for community housing without any income. Once you have applied, you are required to pursue any income source that you may be eligible for. This could include income sources like:
– Ontario Works
– Ontario Disability Support Program
– Canadian Pension Plan
If there are any changes to your application, including your contact information, family size or changes that affect your priority information, please contact the CDSB within 15 business days.

The wait depends on several factors including bedroom size, building selection, rent geared-to-income or market rent unit, priority applications and vacancy rate.
It is important to keep your application active and notify us if you address or contact information changes.
Applicants can be assigned an urgent status under the following 3 categories:
If you qualify for any of those special statuses, your application will be assigned priority to those on the regular waitlist.
Applicants who have been assigned urgent status are still required to wait until an applicable unit size becomes available. There is no set time frame available.
