Summary
Under the general direction of the Construction Supervisor, the Serviceperson (Construction) is to provide maintenance services to assigned construction projects within CDSSAB in accordance with related legislation, CDSSAB policies and procedures and CDSSAB Vision & Values.
Key Responsibilities of Position
- Assist in day-to-day operations of construction/maintenance of CDSSAB and Non-Profit properties
- Perform general labour duties including but not limited to asphalt repairs, concrete forming and repairs, weeping tile replacement, landscaping, chain link fence installation and repair, tree cutting and removal, interlock brick repair, precast step replacement, parking lot painting
- Ability to operate backhoe, plow trucks, sanding unit, skid steer, loader and excavator
- Complete custodial duties at various locations on an as needed basis
- Perform various winter maintenance duties of parking lots, roadways and sidewalks including but not limited to snow plowing, sanding, shoveling
- Work various shifts, weekend and holidays to perform snow removal and construction duties as required
- Perform regular maintenance on heavy equipment, vehicles, and other seasonal equipment
- Follow prescribed health and safety procedures
- Perform and complete other duties as required
Skills & Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma · Experience in construction environment
- Experience in snow removal operations. Ability to operate small hand tools and equipment related to construction
- Experience in custodial/ maintenance environment preferably in residential setting
- Knowledge of WHMISS and use of cleaning chemicals
- Must be dependable, punctual and self-motivated
- Ability to work with limited supervision, organize and prioritize work
- Access to reliable vehicle
- Possession of valid driver’s license and maintain acceptable driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours (Weekends, evenings, early mornings)
- Criminal records check
