Since we first learned of COVID-19 as an emerging public health issue, the Cochrane District Services Board (CDSB) has been diligently monitoring the developing situation to protect the health and well-being of all employees, service providers, and clients.  Given the latest announcement from Premier Doug Ford on the state of emergency, we are providing you with further action.

We recognize the significant impact this decision has made on clients, service providers, children, families, as well as the broader community. We are committed to continuing to work with you to support our clients and their families and keep everyone safe

Decisions regarding services reflect current knowledge and available information and will be reviewed and updated on a regular basis to ensure our services remain aligned with national, provincial and local developments and reflect current knowledge on COVID-19. Discretion may be required in the implementation of our service plan depending on changing circumstances.

The CDSB’s goal of this pandemic response is to prevent infection transmission and minimize serious illness while continuing to serve those who need our services: Ontario Works, Housing Services, Childcare Services, and Emergency Medical Services.

We understand there is much anxiety and questions related to the recent provincial directive issued in response to containing COVID-19 as it relates to closures.  We would like to reiterate that the CDSB will accommodate and support our clients, tenants, and patients to the fullest extent.  The CDSSAB confirms that during this period we will:

  1. Limit all non-essential public access to our administration offices.
  2. Continue to provide service to those in need by completing applications and updating information via the telephone.
  3. Continue to provide service to our clients who do not have access to a phone by providing a safe environment for them to meet with our staff.
  4. Housing move-outs and move-ins will continue with safe measures to ensure leases can be executed and new tenants can move in to units.
  5. Ensure maintenance personnel continue the enhanced cleaning protocol and serve as a point of contact in housing properties.  Common rooms in buildings have been closed and personnel will be available to make ‘wellness check’ phone calls to all seniors on a rotating basis.
  6. Monitor and update the signage regarding visitor limitations, which has been posted.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Together we can ensure the health and well-being of the people we serve.
